The movie font is an old style serif typeface, called Trajan, designed by typographer Carol Twombly for Adobe in 1989. It is called "The Movie Font" because many movies have used (and continue to use) the font as the main title typeface for their marketing materials such as movie posters. |

Trajan was originally designed in 1989 but an updated version, Trajan Pro, was created in 2001 by Adobe. Trajan Pro is only available to be purchased from Adobe. Trajan Pro can be purchased and downloaded here: |

What Does the The Movie Font Look Like? |

The design is based on the letter forms of capitalis monumentalis or Roman square capitals, as used for the inscription at the base of Trajan's Column from which the typeface takes its name. Since the inscription and its writing form manifests in only one case, Trajan is an all-capitals typeface. |
